What Happens During Your Diagnostic Assessment?

A standard diagnostic hearing assessment takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. We guide you through each stage of the evaluation to ensure a comfortable and precise experience:

• Clinical Case History & Lifestyle Discussion

We begin by discussing your medical background, noise exposure history, and specific listening challenges (such as hearing in noisy environments or managing ringing in the ears).

•  Otoscopy (Ear Canal Examination)

We inspect your outer ear and ear canal using an otoscope to check for wax buildup, blockages, or eardrum irregularities that might affect your hearing results.

• Pure-Tone Audiometry (Air & Bone Conduction)

Using calibrated headphones and bone conductors, we measure the softest sounds you can hear across a range of frequencies (pitches). This helps determine both the degree and type of hearing loss.

• Speech Discrimination Testing

We measure how clearly you understand speech at comfortable listening levels, helping us evaluate word recognition accuracy and brain-ear sound processing.

• Clear Explanation & Personalized Care Plan

Your audiometrist reviews your audiogram with you on the day, answering all your questions and proposing clear, tailored next steps if hearing support is recommended.

We are an accredited provider under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (HSP).

If you hold a Pensioner Concession Card, DVA Gold Card, or DVA White Card (for hearing loss), you are entitled to fully subsidized (free) annual diagnostic hearing assessments and ongoing clinical care.
